Reaching Out

As many of you know, my beloved wife, Breanna Hayse, has been dealing with severe health issues that have ended up in hospitalization, inability to work, and has limited her reaching out to you, her fans and friends, as she has done in the past.

She hasn’t shared the seriousness of her condition except through a select few, but I feel it’s time that I share the details of our situation.

The condition became serious during the Christmas holidays with several ER visits until she was admitted for an emergency nephrostomy in mid-January. At that time, I was informed that her condition was literally a day away from losing her due to risk of kidney and ureter rupture. She had developed sepsis due to a stone completely blocking her left kidney -which had expanded nearly three times the normal size. She was on constant IV antibiotics (Zostyn and Vancomyacin) along with Dilaudid and Morphine just to control the pain. She was then placed on Keflex after her release only to go into sepsis again once it was finished.

Needless to say, she is in bad shape and is suffering extensive physical, emotional and mental distress.

We still are unsure if the kidney will need to be removed, but she is on yet another realm of antibiotics and pain meds that are eating away at her stomach and her emotions. She is terrified and so am I. The doctors are skeptical regarding being able to save the kidney and are extremely concerned regarding her inability to shake the recurrent infection She has another surgery scheduled for the 24th that will be followed up by extensive renal function tests and the decision regarding organ removal. A pelvic mass has also been discovered that will be requiring removal. That has not be analyzed yet.

I know so many of you, like myself, have been touched deeply by her books and her love and I am now asking for your help. The situation is serious and, without help, we are looking at not just the health loss, but also losing our home, the border collies and her future ability to bring you both her books and her love.

Because of the economy, my work as a musician has been limited but due to having to take care of her, I am unable to work as well. Please, if she has ever touched you, this is your chance to show her your love in return. Despite her weakness, fear and difficulty in concentrating, she still is making herself write as much as she can to bring you the books that all of you have grown to love.
My heartfelt thanks and love go to all of you who have known, loved and been part of our lives.
